Free Elasticized Pants Pattern for Kids
Are you looking for something to pair with my girl’s ruffle top, my reversible top, or my 15-minute top made from a rectangle? Here’s something sweet, stylish, and easy to sew for you: elasticized pants with a comfy fit.
The pattern has no zipper or buttons and has an elastic waist. The design has elastic along the hemline too!
These pants are so easy that if you’ve made my baby bloomers pattern, you can easily level up to this pattern. The steps are almost similar and super simple!
The pattern comes in sizes from 12 months to 5 years and is totally free!

Materials Required:
Medium- weight cotton fabric for the pants- Requirement specified in the table-2 below.
3/4 – inch elastic for the waist- – Requirement specified in the table-2 below.
1/4 – inch elastic for the legs – Requirement specified in the table-2 below.
Sewing Notions.

I assembled the 12 month pattern in the order as indicated (6+7+8+9) and the crotch is huge& deep and the legs are short. What am I doing wrong?
The crotch can look huge for a 12 month old but you need to fold it by 3/8 inch and then by 1- inch to make the waist elastic casing. That would make it look and fit perfect!
Can’t get it either. It keeps going back to sewing instructions 😭

The inseam doesn’t line up. Any idea as to what have I done wrong?
You might not have kept the seam allowance uniform. Check the waist elastic fold and the hem folds for the two legs for any disparity. Kindly check these so that you get the inseam aligned.
I feel like these directions aren’t very clear… how does it go from one piece to all of a sudden having two legs?
Both the leg pieces are joined in the first step and I have mentioned “repeat on the other leg” wherever necessary.

How would you size this up for an adult? Mom-sized, perhaps? 🙂 This is exactly the type of pants I would wear around the house or for sleeping.
When you cut out the fabric, do you fold the fabric right sides together or wrong sides together?
You may fold it either way to get two pieces that look like mirror images.
