Gather your supplies.

Fold the fabric to fit the width of the template and place the template over it. Mark around it and cut to get the pant pieces.

Your pant pieces will look like this. Note that one is the mirror image of the other.

Keep the two pant pieces layered, with the right sides together and aligning the edges. Sew along the two curved edges to join.

Let’s prepare the lower edges of the pants.

Fold one of the lower edges by 3/8- inch and press. Fold again by ½- inch and press once more.

Sew the hem down along the edge of the fold. Repeat on the other leg.

Let’s prepare the casing for the waist elastic.

Fold the upper edge of the pants by 3/8-inch and press.

Fold by 1 -inch and press once again.

Sew the casing down along the edge of the fold, leaving about 2- inches for elastic insertion.

Take the required length of the 3/4 – inch elastic and insert it through the opening in the casing, using a safety pin.

Keep the ends of the elastic overlapping by about ½- inch and sew back and forth to join (picture for illustration purposes).

Sew the opening in the casing shut.

Next, let’s insert the leg elastic.

Cut the 1/4-inch elastic into two equal pieces. Take one of the pieces and insert it through the casing in the hemline of the pants, with the help of a safety pin.

Secure the ends of the elastic by sewing back and forth a few times. Repeat on the other leg.

Next, we sew the inseam.

Keep the inseam of the front and back aligned and sew it shut as marked.

Our elasticized pants are ready!

How would you size this up for an adult? Mom-sized, perhaps? :) This is exactly the type of pants I would wear around the house or for sleeping.

These slacks went together so quickly. Made a pair for my grandson for Christmas. He will have a pair just like his dad. Thank you

I feel like these directions aren’t very clear… how does it go from one piece to all of a sudden having two legs?

Both the leg pieces are joined in the first step and I have mentioned "repeat on the other leg" wherever necessary.

The inseam doesn't line up. Any idea as to what have I done wrong?

You might not have kept the seam allowance uniform. Check the waist elastic fold and the hem folds for the two legs for any disparity. Kindly check these so that you get the inseam aligned.
