This is an easy summer craft idea for preschoolers, perfect for keeping them engaged and entertained. The crafts are so simple that little kids can make them with very little adult supervision.

This summer craft for preschoolers is also a great opportunity to teach kids about different fruits, their colors, and patterns. With this craft, kids can make a watermelon, kiwi, papaya, lemon, dragon fruit, and orange.

Paper Plate Watermelon

Supplies Needed:

Paper Plate.

Dark green, light green, red, and black craft paint.

Dark green, light green, and red coloring pen to mark the sections to be painted.

Paintbrush.

Earbud.

1) Gather your supplies.
2) Take the plate and mark a line around the rim, with your dark green coloring pen.
3) Pour a small portion of the dark green paint into your painting dish ( here I have used a spare paper plate).
4) Paint the outside of the line green, taking care not to cross the line ( it is also okay if it does cross the line a bit here and there, the painting would look natural and nice).
5)Next, take a bit of the light green paint. Paint a thin strip, almost 1/2- inch wide, all around, next to the dark green strip.
6) Paint the remaining part red.

7) Next, take the buds and dip them in the black paint. Start painting the oval seeds.
8) Paint the seeds scattered above the red-painted area and your paper plate watermelon is done.
