– 1/3 yard of 100% cotton fabric for the outside pieces – 1/3 yard of 100% cotton fabric for the inside pieces – 1/3-yard of cotton batting – 100% cotton extra wide double fold bias tape (store-bought or homemade with a Bias Tape Maker from Amazon)

Gather the supplies

Step 2

Place the plate on the fabric. Using your fabric marker, trace around the plate and cut around the circle.

Step 3

Layer your fabrics as follows: One outer fabric, right side facing down, batting and the outside fabric. Pin or clip in place

Step 4

Mark 3-4 evenly spaced horizontal lines on your circle, in either direction. Stitch along the marked lines. Repeat on the other circle.

Step 5

Attach the bias tape around the outer edge of the circle, going just over halfway around (like a smile).  Repeat on the other circle.
