Table-3
In the table “L” stands for the length and “W” stands for the width of the fabric piece to be cut.

Gather your supplies.

Fold the fabric to fit the width of the template and place the template over it. Mark around it and cut to get the shorts pieces.
Cut your ruffe pieces, referring to the table-3 above.

Your shorts and ruffle pieces will look like this. Note that one shorts piece is the mirror image of the other.

Keep the two shorts pieces layered, with the right sides together and aligning the edges. Sew along the two curved edges to join.
Let’s prepare the ruffles.

Take one of the ruffle pieces, fold it in half lengthwise, with the wrong sides touching and press to set.
Let’s gather the ruffle.
Turn the upper thread tension of your machine to zero and stitch length to the longest to get a basting stitch.

Sew a basting stitch along the raw edges of the folded ruffle piece, leaving a long tail of thread about 6 to 7 inches long to pull and gather it. Pull the bobbin thread gently to gather the ruffle. Adjust the gathers to match the lower edge of the shorts, making sure they are evenly distributed.
Repeat on the other ruffle piece.

Line up the ruffles along the lower edges of the shorts, with the right sides together and pin all along.

Sew the ruffles to the shorts, removing the pins as you go. Zigzag to prevent fraying. Turn the ruffle over to the right side and topstitch along the seamline of the shorts and ruffle to make it clean and crisp.
Next, we sew the inseam.

Keep the inseam of the front and back aligned and sew it shut as marked.
Let’s prepare the casing for the waist elastic casing.

Fold the upper edge of the shorts by 3/8-inch and press. Fold by 1 -inch and press once again.

Sew the casing down along the edge of the fold, leaving about 2- inches for elastic insertion.

Take the required length of the elastic, referring to the table-2 above and insert it through the opening in the casing, using a safety pin.

Keep the ends of the elastic overlapping by about ½- inch and sew back and forth to join.

Sew the opening in the casing shut.
